Our mission is to improve the quality of life for those around us - not only by preserving green space, but by making that valuable space accessible to people of all ages. By providing free outdoor recreation alternatives set within a natural haven, we can unite our communities and give residents a healthier environment in which to connect, play and grow.

  • Farmers Market gears up for 2014 season!
    We are preparing for a great season with many new and returning vendors! Opening day is May 7 and the farm fresh shopping continues every Wednesday through October 15, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m
  • Pay It Forward Festival
    Outdoor Encounter is proudly hosting a series of events during this year's Pay It Forward Festival designed for children and teens with special needs to participate in alongside their typically developing peers. The festival will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at the Tennessee Children's Home. Visit the event website for more information!

Meet Our Board

  • Rebecca Wynd: Founder/Director
    A full-time Wife and Mom of two children and a Lab, Rebecca has a passion for the outdoors, healthy living and active lifestyles. Her former career in media & event planning has included Production and Logistics for NBC Olympics, Sundance FilmInstitute, Christian Broadcasting Network and more.
  • Greg Langeliers: Board Member
    As Thompson's Station Town Administrator, Greg helps manage the affairs of the municipality in a manner consistent with the direction provided by the elected officials.
  • Millie Halvorson: Board Member
    Millie is a Physical Therapist for Williamson County School district with a passion for children with special needs. She works to find opportunities for these children to access the outdoors and enjoy nature, and enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and triathlon training.
  • Ben Wynd, CPA: Board Member/Treasurer
    Manager of Financial Reporting for Vanguard Health System, Ben is also an Eagle Scout and an avid Road/Mountain Biker. He enjoys hanging outside with his wife and two children.
  • Daniel Moore: Board Member
    Owner of Viking Landscaping, Daniel is a native Williamson County resident and outdoor enthusiast. He enjoys spending time with his wife and kids.
  • Judy Hayes: Advisory Member
    Judy has served as Williamson County Commisioner (3rd District) since 1986 and as a teacher in Williamson County School System for 10 years. She is a native Williamson County resident still living on farm she was born. She's a graduate of David Lipscomb University and enjoys spending time with her large extended family.
